COURSE DESCRIPTION
AP Art History is designed to be a college level survey course approved by College Board. Students will learn artworks chronologically and regionally. First is a brief introduction covering basic vocabulary and exploration around why one studies art and it's history? Then we launch into the 10 content units starting with Paleolithic painting/sculpture and ending with Post-Modernist contemporary artists. The course will spend varying amounts of time in each content unit. We will explore ancient through the Medieval ages, and global arts including Africa, the ancient North and South Americas, Asia, Near East, Oceania, and Islamic traditions.
Throughout the year the students will be guided by Essential Questions put forth by College Board.
